Christmas Prep with Delightfully Delicious!

Christmas Prep with Delightfully Delicious!

The temperature has dropped, the lights are twinkling and Santa’s making his list and checking it twice!  With only a few weeks left until Christmas, we caught up with Jess from Delightfully Delicious to chat about the best ways to get prepared for the festive season.

Christmas Dinner
You don’t want to spend Christmas day stressing in the kitchen! Keep things simple and assign everyone a task so that the workload is shared.

Jess says “Christmas is all about relaxing for us and having an easy day. We get as much preparation done as possible on Christmas eve. My favourite thing about boxing day is tackling the leftovers, we usually just make really nice sandwiches.”

Gift Buying

Make a list, make a budget – and stick to them!  If your budget is tight then how about some homemade gifts?  This can save you money and add a personal touch to your Christmas presents.

Homemade tree decorations, sweets or fudge or even DIY candles all make lovely gifts.

Now that I have my own business the gift buying is slowly turning into more homemade gifts for people. My homemade hot chocolate jars go down well as well as my homemade syrups and sauces. I definitely enjoy homemade gifts more as I think it adds that extra touch.

Decorating

“I'm like a big kid at Christmas, so if I could have my whole house decorated like you see in the American Christmas movies, I would 100% be the one who would cause the electricity to blow on the street!”

If, like Jess, you want your decorations to be special, but don’t want your electricity to blow, then decide on a theme and have this running throughout, sticking to a colour palette of around 2 main colours.
Use websites like Pinterest for ideas and again if you want to save some money, try getting crafty and making your own decorations, or shop next year’s decorations in the January sales.

And of course, you can’t do Christmas prep on an empty stomach…  Here’s a taste of what Delightfully Delicious and some of our other traders have on offer on their festive menus:

Delightfully Delicious will be serving up homemade festive syrups for hot chocolates – mint, orange and gingerbread as well as a gingerbread freak-shake and mince pie waffles!

Bonnie Burritos are serving up their usual burritos plus a Christmas special filling of pigs in blankets!

Truckle and Loaf have a few festive toasties on the menu including “Brie and Baubles” with French Brie, Mozzarella, Cranberry Sauce and Rocket!

Wild and Smoky have smoked turkey and cranberry BBQ sauce on the menu, in a bread roll, served with festive slaw!

If you fancy some Christmas Churros with winter berries, caramel sauce and whipped cream then check out The Churro Hut by Grey’s Deli.

Turnip the Beet will be serving up an array of winter themed stews to warm the belly

All the caterers featured in this post will be at our Festive Feast at University of Glasgow on 7th-8th December 2019.  Find out more details here!!
